Computer-Free Easter Weekend

As you can see from my posts, I took a vacation from blogging during the easter. Spent a couple of days up in the mountains, hiking and relaxing with old-fashioned stuff, like books and cards. This is me together with my kids.

If you’re confused about this blog, don’t worry, so am I. It’s about everything and nothing, really - sorry if I’m wasting your time…

I have been struggling a bit with the focus of my site. When I first started it, I intended it to be “about everything and nothing.” I intended it to have the music posts, pop culture posts, links, personal pictures and stories…and now it’s pretty much just a music blog site. Which is fine. The truth is, I’m busy enough writing my two weekly entries that I don’t have time for the rest, but I also do wonder if anybody would care.

That being said, don’t apologize. I am one of those people that likes to know more about people personally. So I like this post. And the great pic of you and the kids. Didn’t even know you had ‘em!

Thanks! For me it was among other things the time aspect that led me to write “about everything and nothing” and at any given time.

That way, I don’t necessarily have to do any research or twist my brain to come up with a new post - I just write about what comes to mind.

I guess with Smooth Jacket I was trying to write for an audience, whereas on this one it’s more of a mix, I’m writing partly for my own sake, partly for an audience… or something.

I can see why you don’t have the time for anything else, though - you obviously put a lot of effort into your entries. And they’re great, too!

Focus is a tough thing. I only recently feel like I found a focus for my blog — all things pop culture, but that’s not really all that focused, is it? Oh well, at least it’s not me whining about my nonexistent love life. But I like focused blogs with weekly installments and unfocused blogs with all kinds of information. If I worked at home, I’d probably find more of a focus and more time to write, but for now I’m just enjoying meeting new people and hearing what they have to say, even if it’s not in person.

I definitely agree with your last point.

And there’s a million different ways to write in a blog, and I, too, enjoy all kinds; personal or topical, focused or unfocused…

All things pop culture is focus good enough for me - you have some great, entertaining entries. And you know, some of your comments on Jason’s blog are almost worthy of a blog of its own.

I honestly don’t realize how much I’m writing on Jason’s blog sometimes. It’s a little embarrassing, but no one seems to mind. I get excited about the songs, that’s all. I’m a nostalgia whore.

Nothing to be embarrassed about! It’s great - it wouldn’t be the same without your comments - I’m always looking forward to it.
